Worried afresh about the economy – Healy Eames

Rule of Thumb – when our rate of borrwing is higher than our rate of growth, we’re in trouble. A sign we are on the road to bankruptcy, so help me God.

Today we learn that Lenihan is threatening higher than 3bn cuts in this year’s budget. God knows where they’ll come from. Not surprised though, when you see the cost of interest just to service our national debt. What a waste. This Govt really blew it.

All we have left now, indeed our most precious resource is our people and we better not blow them, the ones that are still here. Sound decisions were never more important. We need to put our best foot forward and guard and encourage the fundamentals – education, enterprise, creativity, our spirit of resilience, to ensure future growth.
